Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov

Rating – 7 / 10

Caves of Steel is one of the first books written by Asimov on the subject of Robotics. The three Laws of Robotics are inspiring but the whole story of this particular book is not so good. Asimov keeps trying to explain to the reader how important the Laws of Robotics are and the fact that they have been embedded into every segment of a robot’s circuits. He keeps stressing on the fact that there is no robot in the world who can act in any manner that is not in compliance with these laws. Also, the whole plan of the Spacers to convert the present human cities to C/Fe (Human/Robot) societies sounds good but the method by which they plan to do it seems foolish. There could have been numerous other methods to achieve this end but the author keeps concentrating on the fact that there is no other way out.
On the whole, a good book to start the Robot series of Asimov but I believe it is not the best of his works.
