Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

Rating – 8.5 / 10
There is one thing which can clearly describe the period while I was reading Da Vinci Code – Google Search. My knowledge of any religion, even of my own, is very poor. Da Vinci Code was full of facts from Bible and I struggled to understand them while reading this book. The book is a murder mystery but the conspiracy and the plot is amazingly gripping. It deals with the Holy Grail and role of Mary Magdalene in the history of Christianity. A lot of critics have rubbished this book as inaccurate and poorly written but I found the book thought-provoking and creative.
The sequence where Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu solve the cryptex, is the most interesting part to me. Also, the sequence where Sir Leigh Teabing discussed about the hidden meaning behind Leonardo Da Vinci’s paintings, is extremely absorbing.
The most interesting thing about this book is that such books, which are a direct attack on Christianity, are being allowed to be published in the United States, whereas books like Satanic Verses, etc were banned immediately by certain countries. This is clear indication of the open-mindedness of the society and the book readers in the US.
